A ski-flying hill located an hour up the road in Ironwood, Michigan, this National Historic Site offers stunning views of Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Lake Superior. "After an 800-foot chair lift ride to the crest of the hill -- a 360-foot copper-bearing volcanic outcrop -- visitors take a thrilling 18-story elevator to the main observation deck. It is very common to sight eagles soaring through the sky or hear the loons calling across any local lakes. Be sure to bring your camera and binoculars on outings and day trips.
